Membership terms

Version 2026-10-06.1

A rolling monthly membership

A Kanvas Academy membership is a rolling monthly subscription. The monthly fee is taken automatically from the card you pay with, on the same date each month, until you cancel.

Each payment covers your membership from the day it's taken until your next payment date. For example, a payment on the 1st of September covers you until the 1st of October.

You'll get an email each time a payment is taken, showing the amount, what it's for and when the next one is due.

Your fee holds your dancer's place

Classes have a limited number of places. Your membership holds your dancer's place in their class every week, so nobody else can take it, whether or not they attend.

Missed classes are not refunded and don't reduce the fee: the place was held for your dancer. If your dancer hasn't been to class for four weeks, we'll email you to let you know their place is still held and the membership is still active, with a link to cancel if you'd like to.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from your account on the website or app (Account → Manage → Cancel membership). There is no notice period: your membership stays active until your next payment date, then ends, and no further payments are taken. For example, if your last payment was on the 1st of September, your membership ends on the 1st of October, and your dancer can keep coming until then. If your payment date has been changed, it ends on your new payment date.

We'll email you to confirm your cancellation. Payments taken before you cancel are not refunded, except as set out below.

Refunds

Fees are non-refundable, with these exceptions:

Our 14-Day Promise: if we offered it to you when you joined, you can ask for a full refund within 14 days of joining, no questions asked.

Injury: if your dancer is injured and can't dance, we'll pause payments for up to 6 weeks and keep their place held, and refund the classes they miss in the period already paid for. Request this from your account.

Replacement classes: if we cancel a class and the replacement session clashes with another club or activity your dancer already attends, tell us the club's name and class time and we'll refund that session (your monthly fee divided by the number of classes in that month).

Failed payments

If a payment fails we'll email you and retry automatically. If it's still unpaid after a week, your dancer's place is paused until the payment is made.

Behaviour and our codes of conduct

Your membership depends on your dancer and you following our Codes of Conduct for dancers and for parents and guardians (kanvasacademy.com/policies), in class, at shows and competitions, and online, including the chat and Student Home.

If the codes are broken, we'll normally start with a reminder, then speak to you, then give a written warning. If things don't improve, we may pause your dancer's place or end the membership. For something serious, such as violence, bullying, a safeguarding concern or behaviour that puts other children at risk, we may skip these steps.

If we end a membership, we'll tell you in writing, no further payments will be taken, and we'll refund the classes left in the period you've already paid for.

Disputes

If you have a problem with a payment, please contact us first and we'll put it right. A chargeback raised for a payment taken under these terms will be contested, with your agreement, our emails to you and your dancer's attendance record as evidence.

Free trials

  • A free trial is one free session in each class you book, for a dancer who hasn't trained with us before. Brothers and sisters each get their own.
  • When you book, you confirm the dancer is fit and healthy enough to take part. You'll get a trial pass with a QR code to show at the door, plus email and text reminders.
  • You can change your trial date from your confirmation email. If you can't make it, your trial pass stays open for two weeks after the date you missed, and you can book again after that.
  • Once a dancer has been checked in to a trial, their free trial is used. To keep coming, choose a membership.
  • A dancer who has been a member can have a free trial only in a class they haven't been in before.
  • Each booking costs us to arrange, so if a dancer has booked three trials and not attended any, we may treat their free trial as used.
  • We may move or cancel a trial if a class is full, cancelled or the academy is closed, and we'll offer another date. We can refuse a trial booking that doesn't meet these terms.

Acceptance of Terms

This website is owned and operated by Kane Foster, trading as Kanvas Academy. These Terms set forth the terms and conditions under which you may use our website and services as offered by us. This website offers visitors services and products. By accessing or using the website of our service, you approve that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.

Purchases

When buying an item, you agree that: (i) you are responsible for reading the full item listing before making a commitment to buy it; (ii) you enter into a legally binding contract to purchase an item when you commit to buy an item and you complete the check-out payment process.

Pricing

The prices we charge for using our services / for our products are listed on the website. We reserve the right to change our prices for products displayed at any time, and to correct pricing errors that may inadvertently occur.

Fees and Billing

The fee for the services and any other charges you may incur in connection with your use of the service, such as taxes and possible transaction fees, will be charged on a monthly basis to your payment method.

Behaviour, warnings and removal

Everyone who comes to Kanvas Academy, whether a member, on a free trial, on a bring-a-friend pass, or at one of our events, agrees to follow our Codes of Conduct & Policies, and parents and guardians agree to them on behalf of their dancers.

We keep classes safe, fair and enjoyable for every child. So we may give a warning, ask a dancer to sit out, pause a place, refuse or cancel a trial or booking, or end a membership where:

  • a dancer, parent or guardian breaks the codes of conduct;
  • someone's behaviour affects the safety, wellbeing or enjoyment of other children, or the running of a class;
  • fees are left unpaid, as set out in the membership terms;
  • a place is repeatedly booked and not used, for example trials booked again and again without attending, which holds a place another family could have had.

We'll normally give a reminder, then speak to you, then a written warning before pausing or ending anything, and we'll tell you why. For something serious, such as violence, bullying, a safeguarding concern, abuse towards our team or behaviour that puts children at risk, we may act straight away. If we end a membership, no further payments are taken and we refund the classes left in the period already paid for. You can always ask us to review a decision.

Changes to the Service

We may change class times, coaches or the timetable from time to time. We'll give members as much notice as we can, and if a change means your dancer can no longer attend, you can cancel at any time as set out in the membership terms.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Kane Foster harmless from any demands, loss, liability, claims or expenses (including attorneys' fees), made against them by any third party due to, or arising out of, or in connection with your use of the website or any of the services offered on the website.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Kane Foster be liable for any indirect, punitive, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, including without limitation, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to the use of, or inability to use, the service.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Kane Foster assumes no liability or responsibility for any (i) errors, mistakes, or inaccuracies of content; (ii) personal injury or property damage, of any nature whatsoever, resulting from your access to or use of our service; and (iii) any unauthorized access to or use of our secure servers and/or any and all personal information stored therein.

Friend passes, referrals and loyalty pricing

Bring-a-friend passes, referral rewards and loyalty prices are offered as described at the time and can't be exchanged for cash. We may change or end an offer for new sign-ups, but never take back a reward already earned.

Competition and event tickets

Tickets are for the named event and date. If we cancel or move an event, we'll offer a refund. Otherwise tickets can't be refunded, but please contact us if something comes up and we'll help if we can.

Online videos and music

Online videos and practice music are for your family's personal use while you're a member. Please don't download, share or post them elsewhere.

We reserve the right to modify these terms from time to time at our sole discretion. Therefore, you should review this page periodically.
