What type of information do we collect?

We receive, collect and store any information you enter on our website or provide us in any other way. In addition, we collect the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet; login; e-mail address; password; computer and connection information and purchase history. We may use software tools to measure and collect session information, including page response times, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information, and methods used to browse away from the page. We also collect personally identifiable information (including name, email, password, communications); payment details; comments, feedback, product reviews, recommendations, and personal profile.

How do we collect information?

When you conduct a transaction on our website, as part of the process, we collect personal information you give us such as your name, address and email address. Your personal information will be used for the specific reasons stated above only.

Why do we collect personal information?

  • To provide and operate the services;
  • To provide our users with ongoing customer assistance and technical support;
  • To be able to contact our visitors and users with general or personalized service-related notices and promotional messages;
  • To create aggregated statistical data and other aggregated and/or inferred non-personal information, which we may use to provide and improve our services;
  • To comply with any applicable laws and regulations.

How do we store, use, share and disclose your personal information?

Our website is built with Next.js, with visitor and member data stored securely through Supabase. Payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS certified payment processor — we do not store your card details ourselves. Data is held on secure servers, and access is restricted to what's needed to run the service.

How do you communicate with your site visitors?

We may contact you to notify you regarding your account, to troubleshoot problems with your account, to resolve a dispute, to collect fees or monies owed, to poll your opinions through surveys or questionnaires, to send updates about our company, or as otherwise necessary to contact you to enforce our User Agreement, applicable national laws, and any agreement we may have with you. For these purposes we may contact you via email, telephone, text messages, and postal mail.

Text messages

When you give us your mobile number, we use it to send class and trial reminders and updates. To deliver these, we share your number and the message content with our messaging provider (Twilio) and your mobile network, solely for the purpose of transmitting the message. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any text, or by contacting us.

How do we use cookies and other tracking tools?

We use essential cookies to run our website — for example, to keep you signed in. These don't require consent and can't be turned off.

With your consent, we also use the Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Pixel to understand how visitors reach us from our social media ads and to measure trial signups and contact form submissions. This shares limited, hashed information with Meta — it does not identify you directly. We also run our own, simple analytics — which pages get visited and which buttons get clicked — to help us understand how people use the site; this data stays with us and isn't shared with anyone else. You'll see a short banner on your first visit asking whether to allow this, and you can change your choice at any time using "Cookie Settings" in the footer.

The Kanvas Academy mobile app

Our iOS and Android app is for existing members, their dancers and our coaching team. It uses the same information described above — there is no separate database — and collects nothing beyond what you give us:

  • Your account — the email address and name you signed up with, and a profile photo if you add one.
  • Your dancers — their name, date of birth, photo, medical information, emergency contacts and attendance, which you provide during registration.
  • Photos and camera — the app asks for photo library access only when you choose to add a picture, and for camera access only so coaches can scan class-pass QR codes to mark attendance. Nothing is captured in the background.
  • Messages and posts — anything you send us in chat, or share on Student Home.

The app does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, does not use advertising identifiers, and does not sell your information. Card details are never seen or stored by us — payments are handled by Stripe.

Deleting your account and data

You can delete your account at any time, either in the app under Account → Delete Account, or here on the website at kanvasacademy.com/account/delete. You don't need the app installed to do it.

Deleting removes your login, your dancers' records (including their medical information, emergency contacts, class pass and attendance history), and your messages, posts and comments. Any active membership is cancelled at the same time so nothing bills again.

We keep records of payments you have made for as long as tax and accounting law requires, with your name detached from them. If you would rather we handled it for you, or you can no longer sign in, contact us and we will close the account on your behalf.

How can you withdraw your consent?

If you don't want us to process your data anymore, please contact us.

Privacy policy updates

We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here that it has been updated, so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we use and/or disclose it.

Questions and your contact information

If you would like to access, correct, amend or delete any personal information we have about you, you are invited to contact us.
